As a mom, wife, daughter and sister, I find that I don’t take the time I need to really recharge my batteries. I am not often left alone to my thoughts or lack thereof. Finding time for myself during the summer months is more difficult than during the school year. I’m not alone in that, right? But I’m here to tell you how to find Me Time during the summer months because it actually can be done!
How to Find Me Time During the Summer:
- Schedule it. Ask your spouse to take over or hire a babysitter. Lock yourself in the bedroom and turn on your favorite Netflix show!
- If your kids are old enough, leave them home while you do the grocery shopping.
- Get up early, enjoy the silence before the kids get up and maybe do something for yourself.
- Put some earphones on and listen to something you enjoy. It beats listening to kids argue!
- Make plans with a friend. Let the kids play together – outside – while you catch up with the friend!
- Put the kids to bed a little early. Once a week, my kids go to bed 30 minutes earlier than usual. I don’t care how late they stay up as long as they are in bed and whisper. It gives them a little freedom and me a little peace.
There are days I don’t feel like finding time for myself. I want to spend time with my family. But Me Time is so important to your health and well-being. Make the time to recharge yourself. You’ll be a better mom, wife, sister and daughter when you do.
