I’ve struggled with my weight since James was born. Most of my problem is that I am not much of a dieter. That leads to the extra pounds staying put. But that doesn’t mean I don’t try to make healthy choices and live a healthier life.
Last year I really started putting forth the effort to be more fit. I changed my eating habits and purchased a FitBit to motivate myself through competition with friends. My goal was to reach 10,000 steps a day. Some days were better than others but I’d reach that goal at least 4 days a week. I am not a runner, but I really enjoy walking and San Antonio has an awesome trail system so I like to take advantage of them. In addition to making better food choices and reaching my step goal, I’d meet a friend at the trail near my house and she & I would walk about 4 miles once a week.
Geocaching is another way I get active in San Antonio! I really relish this exercise because I am able to do it with my family. But when I head out with them, I need to have accessible snacks. I shop at Walgreens to save money on healthy snacks (like protein bars, nuts and Gatorade) which are easy to throw in our Geocaching bag.
If I know I don’t have any chocolate milk at home, I’ll swing by Walgreens and pick some up because it’s a great beverage to replenish tired muscles.
I’ve found that when I have healthy choices (both food and drink) on-hand, I make better decisions about what to put in my body. I already thought the Walgreens Balance Rewards program was pretty great because earning points for items I already purchase is nice. But now, with the healthy choices program, I can earn even more points for participating in rewardable activities.
To access the healthy choices program: open your Walgreens app, click on the blue walking man image (it says BR for healthy choices under him) and start entering your activities! To make it even easier, you can sync your fitness devices to the app by connecting them from the dashboard at Walgreens.com.

These are some really good tips. TruMoo is really good and I love that overall it’s healthy for you. I try to get together with my friend and go for walks whenever possible.
