**Full Disclosure: I test-drove the 2014 Toyota Tundra for seven days for review purposes. No compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
When I turned 16, my dad told me I could have his truck. I understand that I was lucky to have that option, but I didn’t want it! It was big and I was scared to drive it. After some convincing, dad agreed to sell his truck and let me get a (cheap) car. Since then, I’ve driven trucks a handful of times but it’s not my favorite thing to do. I feel like they are too wide and I’m going to side swipe another vehicle or a wall.
I enjoy reviewing cars, though, so when I had the opportunity to test drive the Toyota Tundra, I had to take it! For the first four days, I was pretty anxious when I got in the truck to drive it. My husband and kids were extremely excited to have a truck.
After about day four, I was mostly comfortable driving the Tundra. Although, I did get some strange looks from men who would look at the truck and see me (a lady!) driving it! Who knows – maybe I would trade my car in for a truck and actually like it!
Toyota Tundra standard features include:
- Easy lower and lift tailgate
- Power windows and door locks
- Air conditioning
- Entune™ 26 Audio with 6.1-in. touch-screen with Bluetooth 10
- Integrated backup camera 11
- Approximate gas mileage is 13/18.
My top five favorite features of the 2014 Toyota Tundra:
- Leg Room – There is SO MUCH leg room in the Tundra. I was really impressed!
- Windows – It seems silly, but the backseat windows (and the rear window) rolled ALL the way down as opposed to half way.
- Infotainment Center – You could display three things at once – the weather, a map and the radio station/song. It was really nice to have it all on one screen.
- Blind Spot Indicator – I think this feature is a must-have! I LOVE that the indicator is there. It absolutely does not take away the need to use your mirrors, but it’s great for those times where a little car is driving (and staying) in your blind spot.
- The bed of the truck – It was so great to be able to haul things around if we wanted to!
The changes I’d make:
- I never did figure out what the ‘Map Card’ button was for. (You couldn’t push it and it didn’t open.)
- The cool seats never actually cooled all the way. It did take the heat out, but they didn’t give you a cold bum.
What do you think your favorite feature would be?

I drive an SUV and remember feeling intimidated when we first got it. Now I LOVE it and so does our 17 year old. It has an amazing turning radius and I love being able to see clearly in front of me. The Tundra looks like a great truck! It’s funny you were getting weird looks I see women driving trucks all the time and I think it’s great!

Texas is a HUGE truck state. I see many women driving trucks, so I was surprised by the looks, too!

I don’t think I could drive one every day, but something in me loves big trucks. That one looks amazing!

I’m not sure what my favorite feature would be. My husband has a Tundra and loves it. It’s too big for my liking, but if it makes him happy… 🙂

This looks like my kind of ride!! I need to show my husband since we are currently looking for a new vehicle for our family.

I used to drive a truck that size, but it didn’t have the blind spot indicator. I think that feature would make a huge difference in my comfort level with a vehicle like this!
