I haven’t ever hosted Easter because we always go to my parent’s house after church. This year, though, we celebrated a little early at my house. I was a little nervous about taking care of all the food, cleaning and decorations. I asked my friends to give me tips to make Easter easier and they really helped.
6 Tips to Make Easter Easier:
- Do as much as you can ahead of time. (Clean, decorate, purchase necessities, etc.)
- Find a great outfit! If you feel good, it’ll be easier to relax and enjoy yourself.
- Put the kids to work. Let them help with the dusting, vacuuming and general cleaning.
- Serving ham for Easter is a special tradition. Serve the best tasting, quality ham your family will enjoy and save time by purchasing HoneyBaked Ham.
- Make memories with a color-coded egg hunt and then a game of ‘swap.’
- Relax!! Enjoy the time with your family and don’t sweat the small stuff!
I purchased my quarter ham, roasted turkey and sides (potatoes au gratin and sweet potato soufflé) ahead of time so all I had to do was heat and serve. With the exception of my table cloth (three large napkins!), I skipped the decorations. Grandma and Geezer didn’t care that I didn’t decorate but the boys did so we will put out Easter decorations later next week.
Because the weather has been so fantastic, I served dinner on my fence table and we ate outside.
Before dinner was served, Grandma & Geezer hid eggs for the boys outside. James had blue and Colin had green. Color coding the eggs makes sure they have the same amount and they don’t get the other kids’ eggs. After we ate and all the eggs were found, we played a game of ‘Swap.’ {To play, sit in a circle (or semi-circle) and open the eggs. Everyone can see what is in each egg and then swap fillers if both parties agree!}
Every part of our meal was delicious!! My favorite was the ham – I don’t think that’ll ever change! I’ve never served the sweet potato soufflé before and my husband couldn’t get enough of it! My parents liked the turkey best and the kids scarfed down everything like I never make good food!
HoneyBaked certainly made it easy for me to relax and enjoy my family!!

Easter is right around the corner. We don’t have an Easter tradition in my family. But it might be fun to start one. I think your tip of doing as much as you can ahead of time is the best tip.

I concentrate on my little family I made, not making our extended family happy. Extended family can guilt you into their schedule and activities, but then you are mad and upset. I am happy when my kids and husband are happy, this may include visiting other people and partaking in their traditions – or sometimes just enjoying our own unit and traditions.
