Next month we are doing the crazy and taking the kids on a road trip. We are driving 1200 miles one way! A road trip that long means that you need to be prepared for what could come at you.
Baby Wipes
The first thing you need to have on hand is baby wipes. It doesn’t matter if you have a baby. Baby wipes are so helpful to have in your car. Kids got dirty hands and you don’t have the time to stop? Hand them a baby wipe. They are good for wiping down the steering wheel if it gets dirty. Of course they can be used for the obvious and clean up a baby’s bum.
Paper Towels
Spills happen! Pack some paper towels in order to take care of those spills right away. You don’t want to have to deal with wet and whiny kids!
Plastic Grocery Bags
Those baby wipes and paper towels need to go somewhere after you use them. An easy way to take care of that garbage is to have some plastic grocery bags in the car. No need to spend money on trash bags when you can get plastic grocery bags for free. You can even tie one on to the back of the front seat of the car so it’s easy to find. Plastic grocery bags also come in handy in case someone gets sick.
Snacks
Having snacks in the car is an absolute must! Another case of whiny kids is when they are hungry! Have some snacks and drinks on hand. Make sure they don’t drink too much, though, or you’ll be making a bunch of unplanned stops. Make sure the snacks are easy to clean up, though. You don’t want things smashed into the seats and floors.
Blankets
Did you ever notice that the back of the car just seems to get colder when the a/c is on? I would suggest you bring blankets to keep those kiddos warm. Happy kids make happy parents. If your kids are like mine, their blankets are their lovies and they want them with all the time anyway.
Of course there are a million other things you could bring with like books, electronics, coloring books and crayons, and movies with headphones! These 5 things, though, can help you keep your sanity while on your trip.
