A car show, also called an auto show or a motor show, is a public exhibition of current vehicle models, debut models, concept cars, classic automobiles and/or exotic cars. There are roughly 70 auto shows that take place throughout the United States each year. While I haven’t been to many of them, I can tell you the few I’ve attended are quite fun!
North American International Auto Show –
January 12, 2019 – January 27, 2019
The North American International Auto Show is held annually at the Cobo Convention Center in downtown Detroit, Michigan. The first show took place in 1907 and has been held every year since, with the exception of 1941-1953. Starting in 1994, the North American International Auto Show has presented the North American Car, Utility & Truck of the Year Awards. This year, the Honda Accord, the Volvo XC60 and the Lincoln Navigator were selected, respectively.
Houston Auto Show –
January 23, 2019 – January 27, 2019
The Houston Auto Show is an annual auto show that is held at the NRG Park Complex in Houston, Texas. The auto show covers over 800,000 square feet and is the south’s largest auto show. Displayed at the show are over 800 vehicles, including alternative electric/fuel vehicles, classic cars, domestic and import vehicle debuts, modified vehicles and ultra-luxuries.
Philadelphia International Auto Show –
February 2, 2019 – February 10, 2019
The Philadelphia International Auto Show is an annual event that takes place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Making its debut in 1902, the auto show takes up the entire space of the Convention Center’s Exhibit Hall Floor, which is 679,000 square feet. The auto show features more than 700 antique, concept, exotic, pre-production and tuner vehicles.
Chicago Auto Show –
February 9, 2019 – February 18, 2019
The Chicago Auto Show is the largest auto show in North America, utilizing over 1 million square feet, including 3 indoor test tracks, courtesy of Fiat Chrysler, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota. The first show was held in 1901, making it the longest running car show in North America. The Chicago Auto Show features approximately 1,000 vehicles (representing 36 manufacturers), including concept and production cars, as well as domestic and imported cars & trucks.
New York International Auto Show –
April 19, 2019 – April 28, 2019
The New York International Auto Show takes place annually at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, New York. Debuting in 1900, it was the first auto exhibition in North America. The car show incorporates 950,000 square feet, displays close to 1,000 vehicles and features over 1 million attendees each year.
