Kids in the Kitchen: Easy At-Home Sub Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1/3 pound deli meat I used honey ham
  • 1/3 pound deli meat I used mesquite turkey
  • 10 slices cheese I used Gouda
  • Optional: lettuce olives, tomatoes, mayo, mustard, etc.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Using a bread knife, slice the French bread in half and put it on a cookie sheet.
  3. Place the sliced cheese on both sides of the bread, slightly over-lapping.
  4. Add deli meat - as much or as little as you want - to the bottom section of the bread.
  5. Do not close the sandwich!
  6. Bake (open faced!) for 8-10 minutes, or until the top cheese is bubbly.
  7. Add toppings, and cut to 'fit' each person.
  8. ENJOY!
