Growing up, every Valentine’s Day consisted of something special from my parents – usually a card, some small gift (socks or something of the sort), and candy. My maternal grandparents always mailed a card, too.
I have always given my kids something special for Valentine’s Day – always a card and then a small toy or something I think they’ll enjoy. My husband doesn’t love this tradition. He says it’ll teach them to expect gifts for Valentine’s Day and because it’s a “GIRL” holiday, they will be set up for disappointment. I disagree. I put a surprise card in my husband’s lunch box on that special day two weeks into February.
Isn’t it amazing how cards can make one feel so special and loved?!
